Calmly Judge: Why Emotion-Free Decision Making is Key to Effective Problem Solving

"Emotion is the enemy of reason." - John D. Rockefeller

"You can't make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen." - Michelle Obama

"The best way to solve problems and to fight against war is through dialogue." - Malala Yousafzai

When confronted with difficult decisions or difficult circumstances, it is all too easy for our emotions to take over and distort our judgment. Relying on emotion over reason, on the other hand, can lead to poor decision making because our emotions are not always in line with the facts or the best course of action. We are better able to examine the situation, consider all choices, and make educated decisions that lead to beneficial outcomes when we take a step back and approach difficulties with a calm, rational perspective. Furthermore, by encouraging open discourse and communication, we may work jointly with others to solve problems and overcome obstacles.

1 Affirmation a Day:

Today, I choose to approach problems and decision making with a calm, rational mindset.

I recognize that emotions can cloud my judgment, and I strive to consider all options and analyze the facts before making a decision.
